Karen Thole to Be Honored by the Society of Women Engineers

karen_tholeKaren Thole, chair of the department of mechanical and nuclear engineering at Pennsylvania State University, has been selected to receive the 2014 Distinguished Engineering Educator Award from the Society of Women Engineers. Dr. Thole will receive the award at the society’s annual conference in Los Angeles in October.

Professor Thole has taught at Penn State since 2006. Previously, she held faculty positions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Virginia Tech.

Dr. Thole holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois. She earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
