Colby College Professor Named President of the International Association of Word and Image Studies

veronique.pleschVeronique Plesch, professor of art at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, has been elected president of the International  Association of Word and Image Studies at the association’s tenth triennial conference in Dundee, Scotland. Founded in July 1987, the IAWIS seeks to foster the study of word and image relations in a general cultural context and especially in the arts in the broadest sense.

Dr. Plesch has been on the faculty at Colby College for the past two decades. She is a graduate of the University of Geneva and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in art history from Princeton University in New Jersey.
