College of the Holy Cross Adds Two Women to Its Faculty

The College of the Holy Cross, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Worcester, Massachusetts, has announced the hiring of six new tenure-track faculty for the 2014-15 academic year. Two of the new faculty members are women.

Lynna Gabriela Avila-Bront was appointed assistant professor of chemistry. Her research focuses on the study of surface-absorbate systems and their electronic and chemical relationships. Dr. Avila-Bront is a graduate of Columbia University in New York City. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Chicago.

Lauren Capotosto is a new assistant professor of education at the college. Her research is concentrated on adult and family literacy issues. Dr. Capotosto holds a master’s degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a second master’s degree and a doctorate in human development and education from Harvard University.
