Two Women Scholars Honored With Awards

Carol Bocetti, an associate professor in the department biological and environmental sciences at California University of Pennsylvania, received the Recovery Champion Award from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Dr. Bocetti was honored for her work to save the Delmarva fox squirrel from extinction. Dr. Bocetti has been on the university’s faculty since 2004.

Dr. Bocetti is a graduate of the University of Florida. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in zoology from Ohio State University.

essay.contestMirja Perez de Calleja, a doctoral student in philosophy at Florida State University, has won the 2014 Philosophical Explorations Essay Prize, a competition that is open to both students and junior faculty. Her essay was entitled, “Cross-World Luck at the Time of Decision Is a Problem for Compatibilists as Well.” The essay, published in Philosophical Explorations: An International Journal for the Philosophy of Mind and Action, may be accessed here.

A native of Spain, Dr. Perez de Calleja earned her first Ph.D. at the University of Girona in 2013.
