Monmouth University and Lewis-Clark State College Name New Provosts

Laura J. Moriarty was named provost and vice president of academic affairs at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. She will take office on September 2. She has been serving as a professor of criminal justice and vice provost for academic affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Dr. Moriarty is the past president of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. She is the author or editor of eight books including Criminal Justice Technology In The 21st Century (Charles C. Thomas, 2005) and Controversies in Victimology (Anderson, 2008).

Professor Moriarty holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Louisiana State University. She earned a Ph.D. at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

Lori Stinson was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. The college enrolls about 4,500 students and women make up 60 percent of the student body, according to the latest Department of Education figures. Dr. Stinson has been on the faculty at the college since 1997 and has been serving as interim provost since May 2103. Earlier, she was chair of the college’s Nursing and Health Sciences Division.

Dr. Stinson is a graduate of the Washington State University Intercollegiate Center for Nursing in Spokane. She earned a master’s degree in nursing at the University of Washington in Seattle and a doctorate in adult education/anthropology from the University of Idaho.
