In Memoriam: Connie L. Drisko, 1941-2014

Connie L. Drisko, dean emerita of the College of Dental Medicine at Georgia Regents University in Augusta died on June 22 at the university’s medical center at the age of 73. She was suffering from leukemia.

Dr. Drisko worked as a dental hygienist for 16 years before earning a doctor of dental science degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She joined the faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City as an associate professor of periodontics. Later she joined the faculty at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and served as associate dean for research and director of the Dental Education and Research Center.

In 2003, Dr. Drisko was named the third dean of the dental school at what is now Georgia Regents University. She served in that post for 10 years, retiring in June 2013. Yet she continued to serve the university in the Office of Advancement.
