Two Women Scholars Awarded Tenure and Promoted at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York

hamilton-thumbHamilton College, the highly rated liberal arts college in Clinton, New York, has announced the promotion to associate professor and the awarding of tenure to three faculty members. Two of the three faculty members promoted and awarded tenure are women.

Jessica Burke was promoted to associate professor of Hispanic studies. Dr. Burke’s research and teaching interests include Latin American literature and culture with a special emphasis on Mexico. She has taught at Princeton University and Rutgers University. Dr. Burke’s earned a Ph.D. in Spanish and Portuguese languages and cultures from Princeton University.

Jane Springer was named associate professor of English and creative writing. Her first book, Dear Blackbird (University of Utah Press, 2007), won the Agha Shahid Ali prize for poetry and her second book, Murder Ballad (Alice James Press, 2012), won the Beatrice Hawley Award. Dr. Springer earned a Ph.D. in creative writing at Florida State University in Tallahassee.
