Seven Women Named to Positions as Dean

hellmanFrances Hellman was named dean of the Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences in the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Her appointment is effective on January 1.  She is a professor of physics at the university.

Dr. Hellman joined the faculty at Berkeley in 2005 and served as chair of the physics department from 2007 to 2013. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds a Ph.D. in applied physics from Stanford University.

Cindy Costanzo is the new interim dean of the College of Nursing at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She was serving as an associate professor and chair of the graduate program at the college. Dr. Costanzo joined the Creighton University faculty in 2005.

Dr. Costanzo holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in nursing from the University of Nebraska.

gallouetCatherine Gallouet was named dean of William Smith College in Geneva, New York. She has been serving as professor and chair of Francophone studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Dr. Gallouet has been on the faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges since 1986. She holds a Ph.D. from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

Sally-Ingles_smallSally Ingles has been named dean of the School of Educational Leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion. She was an associate professor of education at Spring Arbor University in Michigan.

Dr. Ingles is a graduate of Spring Arbor University. She holds a master’s degree from Marygrove College in Detroit and earned a doctorate in education from Capella University.

bibb_webSandra C. Garmon Bibb was named dean of the College of Health Professions at Wichita State University in Kansas. Since August 2011, Dr. Bibb has been associate dean for faculty affairs at the Graduate School of Nursing of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Bibb earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in nursing, all from the University of San Diego.

Ellen WeinauerEllen Weinauer was appointed dean of the Honors College at the University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Weinauer joined the university’s faculty in 1994 as an assistant professor of English. Her research focuses on 19th-century American literature. She also has served as director of the women’s studies program at the university.

Dr. Weinauer is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from Indiana University.

Dr.-Deborah-BarnesDeborah H. Barnes was named interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Jackson State University in Mississippi. She has been serving as associate dean. Dr. Barnes joined the faculty at Jackson State in October 2013. Previously, she was interim associate dean of university studies and an associate professor at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.

Dr. Barnes is a graduate of Tuskegee University in Alabama. She holds a master’s degree in African American literature from North Carolina A&T State University and a Ph.D. in English from Howard University.
