Five Women Scholars in New University Teaching Posts

Melanie Boileau was named the McCasland Clinical Professor at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences at Oklahoma State University. She has been serving an associate professor in the food animal section.

Dr Boileau was born and raised on a dairy farm in Quebec, Canada. She received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Montreal University Veterinary College in 2000.

McClellandSusan McClelland was appointed chair of the department of teacher education at the University of Mississippi. She has served as interim chair for more than two years. Dr. McClelland joined the faculty at the university in 2005.

Professor McClelland is a graduate of Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Mississippi.

Peixoto-LuciaLucia Peixoto was named an assistant professor at the Washington State University College of Medicine. She will begin her new teaching role during the spring semester of the 2014-15 academic year. Currently, Dr. Peixoto is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, conducting research on autism.

Dr. Peixoto is a graduate of the University of the Republic in Uruguay. She holds a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Pennsylvania.

kuttruffJenna Tedrick Kuttruff was named chair of the department of textiles, apparel design, and merchandising at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She has been a member of the faculty in the department for 26 years and holds the Doris Lasseigne Carville and Jules A. Carville Jr. Professorship. Before joining the LSU faculty in 1988, Dr. Kuttruff taught at Tennessee State University in Nashville.

Professor Kuttruff holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University. She earned a Ph.D. at Ohio State University.

ZhangTing Zhang was appointed an assistant professor of history at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a cultural and legal historian of late imperial China.

Dr. Zhang recently was awarded a Ph.D. in history from Johns Hopkins University. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Beijing University.
