Five Women Awarded Tenure at the Wayne State University School of Medicine

The Wayne State University School of Medicine has announced the rewarding of tenure to nine faculty members. Five of the nine faculty members granted tenure are women.

Susan Eggly is a professor of oncology at the medical school. She has served on the faculty at Wayne State University since 1987. Dr. Eggly holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in linguistics, and a Ph.D. in communication, all from Wayne State University.

Wei Chen is an associate professor of oncology. She holds a Ph.D. in biostatistics from the University of Michigan.

Avril Holt is an associate professor of anatomy and cell biology and ophthalmology. She is a graduate of Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Michigan.

Jing Li is an associate professor of oncology and pharmacology. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the West China University of Medical Sciences. Dr. Li earned a doctorate in pharmacology from the National University of Singapore.

Izabela Podgorski is an associate professor of pharmacology. Her research is focused on prostate cancer. Dr. Podgorski holds a Ph.D. from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
