Three Women to Hold Positions as Provosts

ColvinVicki Leigh Colvin has been selected as the 12th provost of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She has been serving as vice provost for research and as the Pitzer-Schlumberger Professor of Chemistry and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas. She will begin her duties at Brown on July 1.

Dr. Colvin has served on the faculty at Rice University since 1996. She is a graduate of Stanford University and holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.

o'quinnDoretha O’Quinn was named provost at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California. The Christian university enrolls about 2,300 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. Women make up two thirds of the student body.

Dr. O’Quinn has been serving as vice provost of multi-ethnic and cross cultural enrollment at Biola University in La Mirada, California. Earlier, she was associate dean of the School of Education at Point Loma Nazarene University.

Dr. O’Quinn is a graduate of Life Pacific College in San Dimas, California. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees from Biola University.

sharon.robertSharon Robbert was appointed interim provost at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois. She is dean for academic planning and effectiveness and a professor of mathematics at the college. She will begin her new role on June 1.

Dr. Robbert has been on the Trinity College faculty since 1993. She is a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
