Stephanie James Named the Founding Director of the School of Art at Syracuse University

Stephanie James was named the founding director of the School of Art in the College of Visual and Performing Arts of Syracuse University in New York. She will begin her new duties on July 1. Professor James is currently associate dean and head of the School of Visual Art at Arts University Bournemouth in the United Kingdom.

Syracuse University’s new School of Art encompasses degree programs in art education, ceramics, the history of art, illustration, jewelry and metalsmithing, painting, print making, and sculpture.

Professor James is a graduate of Hull College in England and holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from Concordia University in Montreal. She earned a master of fine arts degree in sculpture from Newcastle University in England.
