Four Women Named Provosts

Wenying Yu was named provost at Jacksonville University in Florida. She has been serving as vice president for academic affairs at Chatham University in Pittsburgh. Dr. Yu has been at Chatham since 2012. Previously, she was a professor and chair of the English department at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

Dr. Yu is a graduate of Hebei University in China. She holds a master’s degree in English from West Virginia University and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Pittsburgh. She is the author of the Historical Dictionary of Asian American Literature and Theater (Scarecrow Press, 2012) and Eating Identities: Reading Food in Asian American Literature (University of Hawaii Press, 2008).

Felecia McInnis Nave has been chosen as the next provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. She is a professor of chemical engineering and has been serving as associate provost and associate vice president for academic affairs.

Dr. Nave is a graduate of Alcorn State University in Mississippi. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Toledo.

Beth Ingram will be the new provost at North Dakota State University. She has been serving as the Henry B. Tippie Professor of Economics and associate provost at the University of Iowa. She has served on the faculty at the University of Iowa since 1988.

Dr. Ingram is a graduate of the University of Iowa and holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Minnesota.

Karen Weddle-West has been appointed interim provost at the University of Memphis in Tennessee. She has been serving as vice provost for graduate programs and the director of diversity initiatives at the university. Before coming to the University of Memphis, she served on the faculty at Tennessee State University and Ohio State University.

Dr. Weddle-West holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is president-elect of the Graduate Record Examination Board.
