Texas Woman’s University Names Sole Finalist to Be Its Next President

carine-feyten-thumbnailThe Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents has chosen Carine M. Feyten as the sole finalist for the post of chancellor and president of the university. Since 2006, Dr. Feyton has been dean of the College of Education, Health, and Society at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Earlier in her career, she was associate dean of academic affairs in the College of Education at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

According to Texas law, the board must wait 21 days before making the appointment. During this period, Dr. Feyten will visit the Denton campus as well as the Texas Woman’s University Institutes of Health Sciences in Dallas and Houston.

Dr. Feyten is a native of Belgium and is fluent in five languages. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in English and Dutch education from the Universite Catholique Louvain in Belgium. She earned a doctorate in interdisciplinary education and second language acquisition from the University of South Florida.

Update: On April 18, the board of regents unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Feyten as president of the university. She will take office on July 1.
