Two Prominent Academics Announce Their Retirements

NewsMary Ellen Kondrat, dean of the School of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas, has announced that she will step down on June 1. She became dean in July 2006 after serving as dean of the School of Social Work at Louisiana State University.

Professor Kondradt is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in sociology, a master of social work degree, and an educational doctorate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

nadlerJudith Nadler, University Librarian at the University of Chicago, will retire on June 30. She has been on the library staff at the university of 48 years. Nadler joined the University of Chicago in 1966 as a cataloger in the foreign language section of the library. She was named director a decade ago.

Nadler studied at the University of Cluj in Romania and earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Romance studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She earned a master of library science degree from the Israel Graduate School.
