Five Women Appointed to Named Professorships

amy-schwartzAmy Ellen Schwartz was appointed to the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Chair in Public Affairs at Syracuse University in New York. She will begin her new role in August. Currently, Dr. Schwartz is a professor of public policy, education, and economics at New York University.

Professor Schwartz is a graduate of Cornell University. She holds two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in  economics from Columbia University.

rubinJoan Shelly Rubin was named the inaugural holder of the Dexter Perkins Professorship in History at the University of Rochester. She has been on the faculty at the university since 1995. Dr. Rubin is the author of several books including her latest work Cultural Considerations: Essays on Readers, Writers, and Musicians in Postwar America (University of Massachusetts Press, 2013). Also, she is the co-editor of the Oxford Encyclopedia of American Cultural and Intellectual History (Oxford University Press, 2013).

Professor Rubin is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in American history and literature. She earned a Ph.D. in American studies from Yale University.

Kimberly Dozer, CBS correspondent.Kimberly Dozier was appointed to the General Omar N. Bradley Chair in Strategic Leadership for the 2014-15 academic year at Pennsylvania State University. She is a reporter for the Associated Press and a former correspondent for CBS News. She is the author of Breathing the Fire: Fighting to Survive, and Get Back to the Fight (Meredith Books, 2008), which tells the story of her being wounded while covering the war in Iraq.

Dozier is a native of Hawaii. She is a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts and earned a master’s degree in foreign affairs at the University of Virginia.

Lin-JingyuJingyu Lin was named a Horn Professor at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, the highest faculty honor at the university. Dr. Lin is a professor of electrical and computer engineering and has been holding the Linda F. Whitacre Endowed Chair.

Dr. Lin joined the faculty at the university in 2008 and is the co-director of the Center for Nanophotonics. She is a graduate of the College at Oneonta of the State University of New York system. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physics from Syracuse University.

Suzanne Baldwin Informals In LabSuzanne L. Baldwin was named the inaugural Michael G. and Susan T. Thonis Professor of Earth Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University. Professor Baldwin joined the earth sciences department at Syracuse University in 2000. She previously served on the faculty at the University of Arizona.

Professor Baldwin is graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in geology from the University at Albany of the State University of New York system.
