Davidson College Promotes Two Women to Full Professor

DavidsonDavidson College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in North Carolina, recently announced the promotion of five faculty member to the rank of full professor. Two of the promotions went to women.

Sharon GreenSharon Green was promoted to professor of theatre. She is chair of the theatre department at the college. Included among her scholarly interests are theatre history, acting, community-based theatre for social change, contemporary performance theory and practice, feminism and performance, anf 20th-century political theatre.

Professor Green is a graduate of the University of Rochester. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

Shen-VivianVivian Shen was appointed professor of Chinese studies at Davidson. She founded the Chinese studies program at the college in 1998 and served as its chair until 2012.

Professor Shen is the author of The Origins of Leftwing Cinema in China, 1932-37 (Routledge, 2005). She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.
