Drew University Names Its First Woman President

maryann-baenninger-thumbThe board of trustees of Drew University in Madison New Jersey has announced that it has selected MaryAnn Baenninger as the university’s next president. When Dr. Baenninger takes office on July 21, she will be the first woman to lead the university in its 147-year history.

Currently, Dr. Baenninger is president of the College of Saint Benedict, a college for women in St. Joseph, Minnesota. She has served as president at the College of Saint Benedict since 2004. Earlier, she was executive associate director for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in Philadelphia and a was tenured professor of psychology at The College of New Jersey.

Dr. Baenninger holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Drew University enrolls about 1,600 undergraduate students and 800 graduate students. Women make up 60 percent of the undergraduate student body.
