Colgate University Grants Tenure to Two Women Faculty Members

colgateColgate University in Hamilton, New York, has announced that seven faculty members will be promoted from assistant professor to associate professor. In addition, all seven will be granted tenure. Two of the promoted faculty members are women. The appointments are effective on July 1.

BensonJanel Benson was promoted to associate professor of sociology and anthropology. Her research is focused on adolescence and the transition to adulthood. Dr. Benson is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

CardelusCatherine Cardelus will be an associate professor of biology at the university. Her research focuses in biodiversity and how climate change impacts biodiversity. Dr. Cardelus is a graduate of Barnard College in New York City. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut.
