Two Women Stepping Down From Their Dean Positions

SantosAdele Naude Santos, dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, announced that she will step down as dean at the end of the academic year. She will stay on at MIT as a professor of architecture and a professor of urban studies.

Professor Santos has served as dean for 10 years. Before coming to MIT, she was a professor of architecture at the University of California at Berkeley and was the founding dean of the School of Architecture at the University of California at San Diego.

Professor Santos holds a master of architecture in urban design from Harvard University as well as master of architecture and a master’s degree in city planning from the University of Pennsylvania.

millermaryMary Miller, dean of Yale College, will step down from her post as dean in June. Dr. Miller is the Sterling Professor of History of Art and will continue in that role. She has served as dean of the college since December 2008. Dr. Miller is the co-author of The Spectacle of the Late Maya Court: Reflections on the Murals of Bonampak (University of Texas Press, 2013).

Dr. Miller is a graduate of Princeton University in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Yale University.
