Two Women Promoted to Full Professor at Colgate University

colgateColgate University in Hamilton, New York, has announced the promotion of five faculty members to the rank of full professor. The appointments are effective on July 1. Two of the five promotions went to women.

kentaEliza F. Kent was promoted to full professor of religion. She focuses her research and teaching on Indian religion. She is the author of Sacred Groves and Local Gods: Religion and Environmentalism in South India (Oxford University Press, 2013).

Professor Kent is a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

stephensonLynette Stephenson was promoted from associate professor to full professor of art and art history. Before joining the faculty at Colgate University, she was an assistant professor and associate professor at Jackson State University in Mississippi from 1985 to 1998.

Professor Stephenson is a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She holds a master of fine arts degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
