The First Woman President of California State University, Long Beach

ConoleyThe California State University board of trustees has selected Jane Close Conoley to be the next president of California State University, Long Beach. When she takes office in July, she will be the institution’s first woman president.

Dr. Conoley currently serves as dean of the Gevirtz School of Education at California State University, Santa Barbara. She is also a professor of counseling, clinical, and school psychology at the university. Earlier in her career, Dr. Conoley was dean and professor of educational psychology at Texas A&M University and was associate dean for research at the Teachers College of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Dr. Conoley is a graduate of the College of New Rochelle in New York. She holds a Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
