West Virginia University Names Two Women as Finalists for Dean of Libraries

wvuWest Virginia University has announced four finalists for the position of dean of libraries. The candidates will all be visiting the Morgantown campus over the next few days for interviews and public forums. Two of the four finalists are women.

fabbiJennifer Fabbi is associate dean of libraries at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Her current research focuses on the information literacy of first-year college students.

Dr. Fabbi holds a master of library science degree from the University of Arizona and earned a doctorate in higher education leadership from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.

wasurnJanice Welburn is dean of University Libraries at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has held this post since 2006. Previously, she was the associate dean of libraries at the University of Arizona.

Welburn is a graduate of Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, an institution which closed in 1988. She holds a master’s degree in American history and a master’s degree in library and information science from what is now Clark Atlanta University.
