President Obama Nominates the Next Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education

ericka-millerPresident Obama has chosen Ericka M. Miller as the next assistant secretary for postsecondary education. If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Miller would head the Office of Postsecondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education and have jurisdiction over most higher education programs of the federal government.

Dr. Miller has been serving as vice president and chief operating officer of the Education Trust, a nonprofit organization that advocates for educational programs and equal opportunity. Earlier, she was president and chief operating officer for the McKenzie Group, an educational consulting firm that is now part of the American Institutes for Research.

Dr. Miller was once an assistant professor of English literature at Mills College in Oakland, California. She is a graduate of Georgetown University and earned a doctorate at Stanford University.
