University of Vermont Professor Honored for Online Education Efforts

CNHS PortraitBetty Rambur, professor of health policy and nursing at the University of Vermont, received the Excellence in Online Teaching Award from the Sloan Consortium of Newburyport, Massachusetts. Over the past three years, Professor Rambur has designed and taught five online courses. The award is given to faculty members based on learning effectiveness, cost effectiveness and commitment, access, faculty satisfaction, and student satisfaction.

In accepting the award, Professor Rambur stated, “Building a relationship with distance learning students is a rewarding challenge. I work incredibly hard to mentor them and to inspire a passion for learning. For me, the most important part of an online program is to create a learning environment that is based on trust and communication.”

Professor Rambur is a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismark, North Dakota. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in health policy and services from Rush University in Chicago.
