In Memoriam: Ilona Kombrink, 1932-2013

kombrinkIlona Kombrink, a former professor of voice at the University of Wisconsin, died at her home in Stoughton, Wisconsin. She was 80 years old.

A native of St. Louis, she received a full scholarship to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. After graduating in 1955, she received a Fulbright award to continue her studies in Munich, Germany.

After a stellar career in opera and concert performances, she joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1967. She remained at the university until her retirement from teaching in 2003.
