Two Women in New Posts as Deans

jaobsNaomi Jacobs was appointed interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Maine in Orono. Dr. Jacobs is a professor of English at the university and will serve as dean for one year while a nationwide search is conducted to fill the post on a permanent basis.

Professor Jacobs joined the faculty at the University of Maine in 1982. She served as chair of the English department from 2007 to 2012.

Dr. Jacobs is a summa cum laude graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She earned a master’s degree in English literature and a Ph.D. in the theory and history of the novel from the University of Missouri at Columbia.

artinian_nNancy Artinian was named acting dean of the College of Nursing at Wayne State University in Detroit. She was associate dean for research and a professor of nursing at the university.

Dr. Artinian is a graduate of  Mercy College of Detroit. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Wayne State University.
