Syracuse University Honors Its Outgoing Chancellor

Cantor_Nancy-ChancellorOfficial2011Syracuse University has established a scholarship fund to honor its outgoing chancellor. Nancy Cantor is leaving Syracuse to become chancellor of the Newark campus of Rutgers University in New Jersey. The new Nancy Cantor Scholarship Fund will help Syracuse students afford participation in immersion, engagement, and study abroad programs. Funds will be available to students for travel and other expenses related to these types of academic activities.

Prior to her appointment as chancellor at Syracuse in 2004, Dr. Cantor served as chancellor of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Michigan. Previously, she had been chair of the department of psychology at Princeton University.

Dr. Cantor is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University.
