Marlene Behrmann to Lead the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition

marlene_behrmann_120x120Marlene Behrmann was named co-director of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. The center is a joint effort of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh and sponsors an interdisciplinary graduate training program. She will take on this new role in January.

Dr. Behrmann, a professor psychology, has been on the Carnegie Mellon faculty since 1993. Her research focuses on areas of the brain that deal with visual perception.

Professor Behrmann holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She earned a Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Toronto.
