Yale University Scientist Recognized for Her Work in Computer Graphics

rushmeierHolly Rushmeier, chair of the department of computer science at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, received the 2013 SIGGRAPH Award for achievement in computer graphics from the Association for Computing Machinery at the group’s 40th annual meeting in Anaheim, California. Professor Rushmeier was recognized because “her work has enriched our quantitative understanding of every aspect of rendering, from the microscopic characteristics of scattering to the broader representation of appearance to the perception of images by the human visual system,” according to the citation accompanying the award.

Professor Rushmeier holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
