Treasurer at Syracuse University Announces Retirement

Barbara WellsBarbara Wells, treasurer at Syracuse University in New York, has announced that she will retire from her position on September 15. Wells has been on the staff at the university for 38 years. In her present post since 1990, Wells manages the university’s $1.3 billion investment portfolio and its $378 million of debt.

“Barbara has provided many decades of excellent leadership and management in achieving continuous substantial and significant improvements in her areas of responsibility,” stated executive vice president and chief financial officer Louis Marcoccia. “Her many accomplishments have greatly benefited the University, especially in terms of continuous improvement and best practices in the management of cash, investments and debt.

Wells earned an MBA at Syracuse.
