In Memoriam: Julia Chang Lin, 1928-2013

JuliaLinJulia Chang Lin, a scholar of Chinese literature who served on the faculty of Ohio University in Athens, died earlier this month in New York from complications of neuroendocrine cancer. She was 85 years old.

A native of Shanghai, Dr. Lin came to the United States to pursue higher education. She was a 1951 graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she majored in English. She held a master’s degree in English and a Ph.D. in Chinese language and literature from the University of Washington.

Dr. Lin and her husband Henry joined the faculty at Ohio University in 1959. She served on the faculty of the university until 1998. Dr. Lin was the author of four books.
