University of Memphis Psychologist Named Editor of a Prestigious Journal

gbeckJ. Gayle Beck, who holds the Lillian and Morrie Moss Chair of Excellence in Clinical Psychology at the University of Memphis, has been named editor of the journal Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice. The journal is the flagship publication of the Society of Clinical Psychology.

Dr. Beck joined the faculty at the University of Memphis is 2008. Previously, she was professor and associate department chair at the University at Buffalo, a campus of the State University of New York system. Her research focuses on the mental health consequences of intimate partner violence. She is the director of the University of Memphis’ Athena Project, a research clinic that provides free services to victims of domestic violence.

Professor Beck is a graduate of Brown University. She earned a Ph.D. at the University at Albany.
