The First Woman Dean of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy

JulieJohnsonJulie A. Johnson was named dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida. When she begins her new post on August 5, Dr. Johnson will be the first woman dean in the college’s 90-year history.

Professor Johnson joined the faculty at the University of Florida in 1999. Previously she taught at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy.

At the University of Florida, she served as chair of the department of pharmacotherapy and translational research for nine years. In 2004 she was named the V. Ravi Chandran Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She has been serving as the director of the Center for Pharmogenomics and the University of Florida Health Personalized Medicine Program.

Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Ohio State University. She earned a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
