In Memoriam: Ethel Preston Trice, 1921-2013

dr-etheltriceEthel Preston Trice, professor emerita of health education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, died late last month in Little Rock. She was 91 years old.

Dr. Trice was a native of New Orleans. She held bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Louisiana State University and a doctorate from what is now the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Dr. Trice was chair of the Women’s Division and then chair of health education at the Fayetteville campus of the University of Arkansas.

During her long career in the academic world, Dr. Trice served as president of the Arkansas School Health Association, the Arkansas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and the American Lung Association of Arkansas. She served on the governing board of the Association for the Advancement of Health Education.
