All Three Finalists for Vice Provost at Virginia Tech Are Women

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg has announced three finalists for the position of vice provost for undergraduate student affairs. All three candidates are women and all currently hold associate dean positions at Virginia Tech. They will all participate in interviews and pubic forums by the first week of August.

Rachel L. Holloway is associate dean for undergraduate academic affairs in Virginia Tech’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She is the former chair of the department of communication. Dr. Holloway joined the Virginia Tech faculty in 1989. She is a graduate of Morehead State University in Kentucky and earned master’s and doctoral degrees from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Susan S. Summer is the associate dean and director for academic programs in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech. She joined the faculty at the university in 1996 after teaching at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Summer is a graduate of North Carolina State University, where she majored in food science. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in food science and safety from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Bevlee Watford is the associate dean for academic affairs at the College of Engineering. Dr. Watford also serves as the director of the Center for Enhancement of Engineering Diversity at Virginia Tech. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering and operations research, all from Virginia Tech.
