Washington and Lee University Promotes Six Women to Full Professor

Washington LeeWashington and Lee University, the highly rated liberal arts college in Lexington, Virginia, which also includes a high-ranked law school, has announced the promotion of six women to the rank of full professor. Two of the six women teach at the law school and four teach in the undergraduate college.

bondjJohanna Bond was promoted to professor of law. She joined the law school’s faculty in 2008. Professor Bond is a graduate of Colorado College, where she majored in political science. She holds a master’s degree in public affairs and a law degree from the University of Minnesota. She also added a master’s degree in law in advocacy from the Georgetown University Law Center.

francksSusan D. Frank was named professor of law. She graduated summa cum laude from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and went on to earn a law degree from the University of Minnesota. She added a master’s degree in commercial law from the University of London. Professor Frank joined the faculty at the Washington and Lee School of Law in 2008.

Sascha 1bSascha L. Goluboff was appointed full professor of sociology and anthropology. She has been teaching at Washington and Lee since 1999. Professor Goluboff is a graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, where she majored in sociology/anthropology and Russian studies. She holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Illinois.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADeborah Miranda was promoted to the rank of full professor of English. She is a graduate of Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she majored in special education. Dr. Miranda holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Washington. She joined the faculty at Washington and Lee in 2004.

murdockKarla Murdock was appointed full professor of psychology. She has been teaching at Washington and Lee since 2005. Dr. Murdock is a graduate of the Indiana University, where she was a psychology major. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Georgia.

Smith(0)Angela Smith is a new full professor of philosophy at the university. She is a graduate of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, where she majored in philosophy and political science. Dr. Smith earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from Harvard University and joined the faculty at Washington and Lee in 2008.
