A Trio of Women in New Teaching Positions

CATHERINE COSTELLOCatherine E. Costello was appointed a William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor at Boston University. She is one of only 10 faculty members at the university to holds these professorships, which are named after the university’s first president. Dr. Costello has been serving as a professor of biochemistry and a professor of physiology and biophysics at the Boston University School of Medicine.

Professor Costello joined the Boston University faculty in 1994. Dr. Costello is a graduate of Emmanuel College in Boston and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Georgetown University.

susan-faludiSusan Faludi was named the Tallman Scholar in Gender and Women’s Studies for the 2013-14 academic year at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Faludi is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and bestselling author who has previously taught at Harvard University.

Faludi is the author of BackLash: The Undeclared War Against American Women (Crown Publishers, 1991), which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for nonfiction.

McGinnisEsther McGinnis was hired as an assistant professor of plant sciences at North Dakota State University. She will also serve as a horticulturist for the NDSU Extension Service.

Dr. McGinnis is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She holds a master’s degree, a law degree, and a Ph.D. in applied plant sciences from the University of Minnesota.
