Six Women Named to Dean Positions

Prevost-head-shotSuzanne S. Prevost was appointed dean of the Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama. Since 2008, she has been associate dean for practice and community engagement and a professor of nursing at the College of Nursing of the University of Kentucky. She will assume her new duties on August 16.

Dr. Prevost is a graduate of Villa Maria College and holds a master’s degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and a doctorate from Texas Woman’s University.

billie-natashaNatasha Billie is the new dean of students at Langston University in Oklahoma. She has been serving as a teaching assistant in the department of educational administration at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Dr. Billie has previously held administrative posts at Creighton University and North Carolina A&T State University.

comer-albertaAlberta Davis Comer was appointed dean and director of the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah. When she begins her new duties on August 19, will also hold the title of University Librarian. Comer was dean of library services at the Cunningham Memorial Library on the campus of Indiana State University.

Comer joined the staff at Indiana State University in 2004. She holds a master of library science degree from Indiana University in Bloomington.

AnnCary21Ann Cary was named dean of the School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. She has been serving as director of the School of Nursing at Loyola University in New Orleans. She will begin her new job on August 1.

Dr. Cary is a graduate of the nursing school at Louisiana State University. She holds a master of public health degree from Tulane University in New Orleans and a Ph.D. from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

creweSandra Edmonds Crewe was appointed interim dean of the School of Social Work at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Crewe has been on the school’s faculty for 15 years and served as associate dean from 2006 to 2012. Currently, she is the director of the Howard University Multidisciplinary Gerontology Center.

Dr. Crewe holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Catholic University of America. She earned a doctorate in social work from Howard University.

PatriciaDavidson_0Patricia M. Davidson was named the fourth dean of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She has been serving as a professor and director of the Center for Cardiovascular and Chronic Care at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. She will become dean at Johns Hopkins on September 1.

Dr. Davidson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Wollongong in her native Australia. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Newcastle.
