Penn Names Dawn Bonnell as Vice Provost for Research

dawn_bonnellfDawn A. Bonnell has been appointed vice provost for research at the University of Pennsylvania. She will take office on July 1. She is the Trustee Professor of Material Science and Engineering at Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. She also serves as director of the Nano/Bio Interface Center at the university.

Dr. Bonnell joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania in 1988 after spending two years at IBM’s Thomas Watson Research Center. She is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and is the editor of seven books.

Dr. Bonnell holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in material science and engineering from the University of Michigan. She studied as a Fulbright Scholar at the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart, Germany.
