Eleven Women in New Administrative Positions at Colleges and Universities

Valandra-German-webValandra German was named director of the Minority Research Center on Tobacco and Addictions at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She was an assistant professor of public health at Dillard University in New Orleans.

Dr. German is a graduate of Dillard University. She holds a master’s degree from the Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine and a doctorate in public health education from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

traceycrissTracey Criss was appointed assistant dean for clinical sciences at the Carilion School of Medicine at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She will be in charge of the clinical curriculum for third- and fourth-year medical students. For the past 18 years, she has served on the department of psychiatry faculty at the medical school.

Dr. Criss is a graduate of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee, and earned her medical degree at West Virginia University.

EubanksGina Eubanks was named the leader of the food and nutrition program at the AgCenter at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She will continue in her role as the director of the Agricultural Center at Southern University, also in Baton Rouge. Dr. Eubanks has been on the staff at Southern University since 1991.

Dr. Eubanks is a graduate of Southern University. She holds a master’s degree in clothing and textile merchandising and a Ph.D. in home economics from Oklahoma States University.

Wurmfeld.ClaireClaire Wurmfeld was named the chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Southern Vermont College in Bennington. She was the associate vice president of financial planning at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

Wurmfield is graduate of Providence College and holds a master’s degree from the University of Central Florida.

NavarroReneeJ. Renee Navarro was appointed interim vice provost of academic affairs at the University of California at San Francisco. Since 2010, she has been serving as vice chancellor of diversity and outreach at the university and will continue in that role. She joined the faculty at the university in 1990.

Dr. Navarro is a graduate of the medical school at the University of California at San Francisco and holds a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of the Pacific.

Sarah Schroth was promoted to director of the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. She has been serving as interim director and was the Nancy Hanks Senior Curator at the museum. An expert on 17th-century Spanish art, Dr. Schroth joined the museum’s staff in 1995.

Dr. Schroth is a graduate of Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University.

SiesingGina Siesing was named the chief information officer at Bryn Mawr College in suburban Philadelphia. She has been serving as director of Educational and Scholarly Services at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She joined the staff at Tufts in 2005 and will begin her new job on October 1.

Dr. Siesing is a graduate of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. She holds a Ph.D. in English with a specialization in women, gender, and literature from Harvard University.

mcdermittErin McDermott was appointed director of athletics at the University of Chicago. She has been serving as deputy director of athletics at Princeton University in New Jersey.

McDermott is a graduate of Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, where she majored in international business and played varsity basketball. She holds a master’s degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

ronna_vandersliceRonna Vanderslice was promoted to vice president for academic affairs at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. She has been serving as dean of the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences and holds the McCasland Foundation Endowed Chair in Educational Leadership at the university. She joined the university’s faculty in 2006 after teaching at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

Dr. Vanderslice is a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She earned a master’s degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

danielle-woodDanielle Wood was named director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance at the University of Arkansas. Since 2011, she has been serving as the interim co-director of the office. Dr. Wood is also a captain in the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Dr. Wood holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, all from the University of Arkansas.

nicole-norianNicole Norian is the new director of the department of human resources at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She was director of human resources at Nevada State College in Henderson.

Norian is a graduate of Iowa State University, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in counseling and personnel services from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
