University of Nevada Scholar Lands Presidential Appointment

JacquelynSundstrand350Jacquelyn Sundstrand, an associate professor and the manuscript and archives librarian of the Special Collections Unit of the University of Nevada Library, has been appointed by President Obama to a five-year term on the Institute of Museum and Library Services Board.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. Its mission is to inspire libraries and museums to advance innovation, lifelong learning and cultural and civic engagement through grants, policy development and research.

“I am so honored to be chosen to serve as a board member of the Institute of Museum and Library Services,” Sundstrand said. “I am glad to be given the chance to assist individuals and organizations in my profession as a librarian and archivist as well as those in the museum field on a national level. I look forward to the challenges ahead.”
