Three Women Healthcare Faculty Honored With Awards

EmilyDrakeEmily Drake, associate professor of nursing at the University of Virginia, received the Award of Excellence in Education from the American Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses.

Dr. Drake hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Virginia and a doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Anne_Wojner_Alexandrov_sAnne Alexandrov, professor of nursing and assistant dean for program evaluation at the University of Alabama Birmingham, received the Flame of Excellence Award from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Dr. Alexandrov also serves as professor of neurology at the university’s Comprehensive Stroke Research Center.

Dr. Alexandrov is the author of Outcomes Management: Applications to Clinical Practice (Mosby, 2001), which won the Book of the Year Award from the Journal of Nursing.

Harper1Diane M. Harper, professor of obstetrics and gynecology and professor of community and family medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, received the Women of the Year Award from Prince Albert II of Monaco for her contributions to science and society. She also received the 2013 Excellence in Education Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

Dr. Harper has been on the UMKC faculty since 2009. She previously taught at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. Dr. Harper holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned her medical degree and a master of public health degree from the University of Kansas.
