New Graduate Degree Programs in Women’s Studies at Stony Brook University

Stony_BrookThe women’s and gender studies program at Stony Brook University in New York has announced the establishment of a master’s degree program and a Ph.D. program in the discipline. The university, part of the SUNY system, enrolls more than 8,000 graduate students on its Long Island campus.

The university has been offering a graduate certificate program in women’s and gender studies since 1990. The university states that the women’s and gender studies program is particularly strong in the areas of transnational social movements and globalization, the politics of representation and media analysis, gender and health, and the critical analysis of sexuality.

Both new graduate degree programs will be accepting applicants for the 2014-15 academic year.
