Laurie Glimcher Honored by the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research

Dr GlimcherLaurie H. Glimcher, the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean of the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York and provost for medical affairs at Cornell University, received the Advancing Women in Science and Medicine Award for Excellence from the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research.

In receiving the award, Dr. Glimcher stated,  “I am excited and deeply humbled to be the recipient of the Award for Excellence. It is critical that we support and recognize women physicians and scientists, providing them robust mentorship so that they not only succeed, but also go farther than they ever thought they could.”

Dr. Glimcher was named dean of the Weill Cornell Medical College in 2012. Previously, she was the Irene Heinz Given Professor of Immunology at the Harvard School of Public Health and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Dean Glimcher is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. She also is a member and past president of the American Association of Immunologists.

Dr. Glimcher is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard University and completed her medical training at Harvard Medical School.
