Barbara Rimer Wins the American Cancer Society’s Highest Honor

rimer_barbaraBarbara K. Rimer, dean of the Gillings School of Global Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, received the Medal of Honor from the American Cancer Society. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the American Cancer Society. She was honored for her research on breast cancer screening.

Dr. Rimer has been on the faculty at the University of North Carolina since 2003 and has served as dean since 2005. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she majored in English. She holds a master of public health degree and a doctorate in public health from Johns Hopkins University.
