One Woman Among Four Finalists for Dean of Students at the University of Minnesota

danitabrownThe University of Minnesota has selected four candidates as finalists for the position of vice provost for student affairs and dean of students. All candidates will visit the Twin Cities campus next week to take part in interviews and public forums. The candidates have all been asked to give a presentation with the title, “A Vision of Excellence: Student Affairs in a Public Land Grant University.” One of the four finalists is a woman. Women make up 52 percent of the 35,000-member undergraduate student body at the Twin Cities campus.

Danita M. Brown is currently the dean of students at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is a graduate of Kent State University in Ohio, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in counseling from Loyola University of Chicago and a doctorate from Ohio University in Athens.

Update: On May 17, Danita Brown was named dean of students at the University of Minnesota. She will take office on July 31, 2013.
