The Next Dean of the College of Music at Florida State University

Flowers-patPatricia J. Flowers was named the next dean of the College of Music at Florida State University in Tallahassee. She is currently a professor of music at Ohio State University. She will begin her tenure as dean on July 1.

Dr. Flowers has served on the faculty at Ohio State since 1985 and has been a full professor since 1996. From 1992 to 2007, she served as chair of graduate studies at the university. Earlier in her career, she taught at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

“I am proud and honored by the privilege of leading the College of Music, one of America’s finest comprehensive music programs and a source of pride for the State of Florida,” Professor Flowers said in accepting the appointment. “It is a special joy to come home to my alma mater. There is no place I’d rather be.”

Dr. Flowers holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kent State University in Ohio. She earned a Ph.D. in music at Florida State.
