New Grants or Gifts Relating to Women in Higher Education

money_bagHere is this week’s news of grants and gifts that may be of particular interest to women in higher education.

The Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami and the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, received a five-year, $8.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study the changing demographics of women infected with HIV/AIDS.

The grant will be under the direction of Margaret Fischl, professor of medicine at the University of Miami and co-director of the Miami Center for AIDS Research and Lisa Metsch, chair of the department of sociomedical sciences at Columbia University.

KathyKrause1Kathy M. Krause, professor of French at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for her research project entitled, “The Role of Noblewomen in Literary Production in Northern France During the 13th Century.” The grant will allow Professor Krause to complete her research and write a book on the topic.

Professor Krause joined the University of Missouri Kansas City faculty in 1995. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania.
