Middlebury College Promotes Two Women to Full Professor

middlebury-collegeMiddlebury College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Vermont, has promoted three faculty members to full professor. Of the three faculty members promoted to full professor, two are women.

AnneAnne K. Knowles was promoted to full professor of geography. She is the co-editor of Placing History: How Maps, Spatial Data, and GIS are Changing Historical Scholarship (ESRI Press, 2008).

Professor Knowles is a graduate of Duke University. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

morseKathyrn Morse is a professor of history at Middlebury. She joined the Middlebury faculty in 1997. Professor Morse is the author of The Nature of Gold: An Environmental History of the Klondike Gold Rush (University of Washington Press, 2003).

Dr. Morse is a magna cum laude graduate of Yale University. She earned a master’s degree at Utah State University and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Washington.
